Target Audience

This activity is intended for all professionals involved in delivering cardiovascular and stroke care, with particular emphasis on physicians, scientists, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, EMS and practice administrators. Medical students and trainees, technicians, dietitians and other health care professionals will also benefit.

Basic Science

  • Identify major advances in key areas of cutting-edge research and technology in heart failure, atherosclerosis, stroke, cardiovascular genetics, molecular biology and arrhythmias.
  • Discuss basic processes linking molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry with cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology.
  • Recognize the promises and pitfalls of cell and gene therapy for cardiovascular disease.

Clinical Science

  • Translate emerging clinical science to clinical practice in patients with cardiovascular disease and stroke.
  • Evaluate and implement new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for treating cardiovascular disorders and stroke

Population Science

  • Recognize emerging trends in the distribution of cardiovascular disease and stroke and their impact on public health.
  • Evaluate the impact of new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies on health costs and outcomes.

Translational Science

  • Discuss the adaptation and testing of fundamental scientific discoveries to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac and vascular disease in patients.

This activity has been planned and implemented by American Heart Association and Midwest Stoke Action Alliance. The American Heart Association is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

AMA Credit Designation Statement - Physicians

The American Heart Association designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 63.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

  2. Watch the CME-eligible sessions of your choosing. You must watch all presentations in a session before completing the Post-Test.
  3. Complete the Post-Test by clicking the CME Information tab next to the Presentation tab. You must score 100% on the post-test to receive credit, but you will have the opportunity to re-take questions that you missed.
  4. Please select your Professional Designation since this will determine the Certificate type you will receive.
  5. CME credit must be claimed by November 16, 2021.

Note: You should not claim credit for an OnDemand™ session if you claimed credit for the same session at the Live Meeting. You must watch the entire session and complete the post-test to receive credit for the session.
